2nd Annual Bishop's Cup & Family Fishing Tournament
June 12, 2010 - Detroit Lakes, MN

Official Rules
1. Eligibility and Fees: Teams are welcome from all parishes within the Crookston Diocese. Team should represent a committee, group or organization within a Diocese of Crookston parish, i.e., School Board, Parish Council, Knights of Columbus Council, Choir, etc. Bishop's Cup Teams will consist of no more than 4 people. Team members must be 18 years of age or older. Under 18 years of age can fish on a team if one of the other team members is their parent or legal guardian. Entry fee is $200.00 per team. Entry forms should be received by noon on June 10th. An Early Bird registration special of $160 will be available for those who register for the Bishop's Cup category by Easter Sunday, April 4th. All registrations after that date will be $200. The Entry fee for the Youth Teams and for the Family Teams will be $20.
2. Headquarters: Site of the contest will be Detroit Lakes, MN., gathering at People's Park.
3. Fishing Hours: Boat check-in will be from 6 am to 8 am on Saturday, June 12. A short rules meeting will be held at 8 am, with a blessing by Bishop Hoeppner at 8:30. Fishing will begin at 9 am and end at 2 pm. Teams will be sent out from People's Park - Bishop's Cup teams first, then Bishop's Cup Youth teams and finally, the Family Teams. A team may use 2 boats if 4 fisherpersons do not fit in one boat. However, multiple teams cannot fish from the same boat.
4. One member of each team must be at the weigh-in area no later than 2 pm. After the weigh-in, the team of judges will determine the winner(s) and all prizes will be awarded immediately following the weigh-in.
5. Fishing Area: Little Detroit Lake and Big Detroit Lake only.
6. Prizes for the Bishops Cup will be based on a team limit of 4 fish, which could include 1 walleye, 1 bass, 1 northern, and 1 crappie, but only one of each type of fish. The winning team will be determined by total weight of the 4 fish listed above. In case of a tie the winning team will be determined by the heaviest fish.
7. The Prize for the Bishops Cup competition will be to have possession of the Bishops Cup Trophy engraved and proudly displayed at your parish, bragging rights for the entire year and your entry fee paid for the next Bishop's Cup tournament. The trophy will be a traveling trophy and must be returned for subsequent Bishop's Cup Tournaments.
8. The Youth Bishop Cup will have a trophy that will be displayed at the winning teams school or parish. All rules and limits apply to youth teams; however youth teams may fish from shore. The entry fee for this category will be $20 per team. Each youth team must provide supervision for their team members. The supervisor must be Safe Environment certified. More than one youth team is allowed for each parish.
9. A family fishing event will also be held. The entry fee is $20.00 per family. Family Teams will also consist of no more than 4 team members. The winning team will be determined by the total weight of all legal fish. The number of prizes will be determined by the number of prize donations, however, the committee is working to assure that all participants receive a prize.
10. Tackle: Live and artificial baits.
11. Laws: All Minnesota Laws will be followed. This includes size limits and slot limits.
12. Note: This is an alcohol free event.
13. Safety: Please wear life vests and remember that the public has the first use of the boat ramp.
14. Check in: All teams must check in at the end of the tournament.
15. All judge's decisions will be final.

Remember to launch your boat before the rules meeting at 8:00 a.m.
