HISTORY
The Diocese of Crookston was established December 31, 1909, from the western half of the Diocese of Duluth, Minnesota. It comprises 17,210 square miles of northwestern Minnesota, the four-
teen counties of Kittson, Roseau, Lake of the Woods, Marshall, Polk, Red Lake, Pennington, Clearwater, Beltrami, Norman, Mahnomen, Hubbard, Clay and Becker. Faced with an influx of immigrants, the first bishop, Timothy Corbett, constructed more than fifty churches and twelve schools in twenty-eight years. He was followed by Bishops John H. Peshges, Francis J. Schenk, Laurence A. Glenn, Kenneth J. Povish, Victor Balke and Michael J. Hoeppner.

CENTENNIAL PRAYER
God, our Heavenly Father,
we enter our second century
mindful of our past and
hopeful for our future.
We praise and thank you
for the countless blessings
you have bestowed on us
through the intercession of
Our Mother Mary Immaculate.
May our Diocesan Centennial celebrations
be a time of deep conversion, reconciliation,
peace and joy,
as we journey in faith.
Send us Your Spirit
To help us rededicate ourselves
to the Mission that Your Son, Jesus,
entrusted to us
and to continue the good work
handed to us by previous generations.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord.
Amen.
