The Diocese of Crookston names Director of Catholic Schools
Msgr. Mike Foltz, Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia for the Diocese of Crookston, has named Andrew Hilliker the Director of the Office of Catholic Schools. Hilliker has been principal of St. Joseph’s School in Moorhead since 2014. He will begin the part-time diocesan role in addition to his work at St. Joseph’s on October 15.
Hilliker earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education in 2010 and a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration in 2014, both from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. He has been an active principal among his peers in the Diocese of Crookston, serving as chairperson of the diocesan Curriculum Review Taskforce. Hilliker also serves the Minnesota Nonpublic Schools Accrediting Association as Vice President of the Board of Directors. He has been married to Rose since 2014 and has 2 daughters, Lily and Adalyn.
The Director of Catholic Schools is the bishop’s liaison to principals, pastors, and school advisory councils in the development of philosophy, policy, curriculum and applicable school law. The Director assists diocesan schools in the process of accreditation, strategic planning and self-study; conducts the Catholic identity portion of the accreditation team visit; and is a member of the Minnesota Nonpublic School Accreditation Association. The Director of Catholic Schools coordinates the work of the Diocesan Relicensure Committee and the Diocesan School Advisory Council. The Director is also the diocesan representative to the National Catholic Education Association and Minnesota Catholic Conference Education Committee.
